  • Question: Best friendly ISP in Vicenza to clone GPON

Hello, I am getting fiber installed on my street. I am not sure what's the best ISP to get. I live in Vicenza area. I am a network engineer and have fiber experience. What I am looking to do is either clone the Mac, serial or use PLOAM.
My questions are:
What ISP is using Serial and Mac?
What ISP is using PLOAM?
Do these ISP care if I use my own equipment?

My build:
There are several brands that can be used such as Unifi fiber loco, Hisense, Nokia or HSGQ GPONs. I will have to match the power and transmit of the current GPON.

I have a unifi dream wall that does all my routing and firewall. I have an open SFP+ port that can be used.
My goal is to have apc fiber go directly to the replacement GPON directly into the unifi dream wall.
My main reason less equipment, and another point of failure reduced.

I appreciate any help.

Hi, in Italy the network is very fragmented (openfiber, fibercop, gpon on fiber off or passive and gpon on fiber on - vula, nga, easy ip, openstream, openinterent).

In general, in 90% of situations for the past year or so, it has been impossible to clone the active network owner's ont due to increasing controls on third-party ont because active network owners do not pay licenses for third-party ont, or pay them with the dropper.

Let's say it is currently possible almost limitedly in big cities and only with Vodafone, Wind3, fastweb where they have Huawei equipment until the upgrade is mandated and then not for much longer. Where it is not on openfiber network it is also possible with Nokia equipment. But a even here you risk line ban.

Wow thank you didn't realize they would ban the line for this.
